We can Choose Love over Hatred

Martin Luther King_0

“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it.
Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

Today’s quote points out clearly the damaging and paralyzing nature of hatred and the freedom and harmony that is found in love. They are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Love is the direct antidote to hatred and anger. They do not manifest simultaneously. Just as turning on a light vanquishes darkness, love dissolves hatred. Conversely, the darkness of hatred blocks out the light of love.

Every day we have a choice to attend to and nurture attitudes and activities that support either love or hatred. It is important to remember that love is not simply a feeling we experience, it is an attitude we nourish and an activity we engage in. If we want it to illuminate our lives with love, we need to be willing to let go of the anger, resentments and hatred that block its healing light. – John Bruna, November 25, 2015
